HEIDI HAIR.

OK. Now i know my hair might not be as amazing or as long as their hair, but it’s getting there. I am thoroughly enjoying the benefits of this long hair business and have discovered my new style obsession : PLAITS. Set to be the look for S/S10 i am determined to resist the urge to chop my locks.

The Power Of Blogging.

OK. So i’ve come out of University with a degree anyone would be proud of in Fashion Promotion, not forgetting the Imaging. It is then assumed that with a degree you’ll then come out into the real world to find your perfect job and live happily ever after.

If only it was that easy.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one to turn down a challenge but the reality is far from what you imagine for your future when you’re standing in your gown accepting your graduation certificate.

So to busy myself while i’m re-evaluating my life plan i’ve been writing for this lovely blog.

Specifically Menswear.

Whilst researching for my next post (and my career) i stumbled across this fine chap who goes by the name of Tommy Ton.

This 25 year old has my dream job. A fashion blogger like myself he is also a self confessed fashion obsessive with a love for street photography. By taking the initiative to photograph and document the fashion shows from New York, Milan and Paris, Ton has made a name for himself with all fashion enthusiasts around the world.

Against the prefabricated style of celebrities, Ton focuses on detailing and labels as well as focusing on big the fashion players such as editors, buyers and stylists.

His ambition, motivation and passion is re-freshing and inspiring.  He has demonstrated the power of blogging and photography and has cleverly made a career out of it.

I think you should definitely take a look for yourself —- > http://jakandjil.com/blog/

IT’S ALL SO QUIET.

MY MY it does feel like a long time since i last posted on here. Time has just flown by.

These past few weeks i have been busying myself with Menswear Day - London Fashion Week, DJing, and good old job hunting (but we won’t talk about that).

BACKSTAGE WITH CAROLYN MASSEY.

A detail obsessive, Carolyn Massey is known for her quintessentially elegant English cuts and details. This season, Massey -insipired by a recent trip to the Kent headland village of Dungeness - moves her collection towards the outdoors.

Myself and Ruth Brooks had the pleasure of being backstage at the show to showcase our latest book venture —— Behind the Curtain, Carolyn Massey.

Behind the Curtain - Front Row.

Massey asked if we would have our book front row at her show and happily we said YES!

Given to UK and International buyers, press and fashion writers we are hoping to promote ourselves as the creative duo Baxter and Brooks. We hope together to support and promote young British designers.

Steve Salvage

“If you are suffering like me then I think I have found the antidote. Before Carolyn Massey’s wonderful show launched the wonders of Menswear Day, I found a bow adorned copy of  Baxter and Brooks’ Behind the Curtain which I flicked through before the show started and since the day has finished barely put down. Behind the Curtain aims to celebrate British Fashion whilst examining the bones of the industry, highlighting all of the hard work and determination required to make it in the industry. It exposes the traits often neglected in the fashion press and certainly in the glossy editorials that inspire and transfix so many.”

Though it was a stressful few weeks in the lead up to LFW with editing, printing, distribution and MONEY, it is all made worth while when we come across such nice words from this lovely chap below.

“For some, it might not portray the romance and other worldliness many associate with the fashion world but for me it shows the real love and passion that goes in to it and that for me, is the real romance.”

This lovely blog celebrates and supports menswear, highlighting its importance and relevance in the fashion industry. I find it frustrating menswear isn’t as celebrated or recognised for it’s exceptional tailoring and design, with so much more attention paid to womenswear. You only have to look on the highstreet to notice that womenswear is given a lot more attention. Generally speaking menswear shop floor space is a lot less compared to womenswear.

Menswear needs to be re- established and recognised in London.

Now LFW is done and dusted we are venturing into the world of self publishing while thinking on our next designer to work with.
